The heart of Hereford must be its beautiful Cathedral. Dating from Norman times it is also home to the unique Mappa Mundi and the world’s largest Chained Library.
The Cathedral also hosts The Three Choirs Festival. Hereford is also famous as a livestock and agricultural centre while Hereford cattle with their white faces are exported to over 120 countries throughout the world.
High Town is the focal point of the city and a centre for shopping. Nearby is the Buttermarket with its traditional market stalls. In contrast is the 20th century Courtyard Centre for the arts and new Riverside facilities.
Hereford has a wide variety of Museums and is within easy reach of many sites of historic interest. It is also a centre for walkers either within the city or over longer distances. The nearby Forest of Dean is another favourite with walkers, naturalists and bird watching enthusiasts.
